Leeds United have agreed a deadline-day deal to sign Melvin Bard from Nice.
L’Equipe reports the 25-year-old left back will join on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The Telegraph reports a deal is agreed and he is travelling for a medical. yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk understands the figures are a €1m loan fee and a €5m option, and that Willy Gnonto will only be allowed to leave if United add another attacker.
Bard can also operate as a left-sided centre-back or left winger. He has made 193 appearances for Nice, scoring seven and providing six assists.
His arrival would offer competition and cover for Gabriel Gudmundsson at left back, as well as another option in central defence or out wide.
Leeds have until 11pm to complete their business. They had hoped to sign Ukraine international Mykhailo Mudryk on a season-long loan from Chelsea, but the 25-year-old is set to join Tottenham with a reported £75m option to buy.
Gnonto travelled to Italy on Monday and has been pictured in Fiorentina training gear.
