Leeds United are working to finalise a deadline-day deal for OGC Nice left-back Melvin Bard, with confirmation expected before 11pm. According to Leeds Live, his arrival would resolve the need for a left-footed back-up to Gabriel Gudmundsson since January.
BBC Sport report Leeds will pay an initial loan fee of €1 million (£860,000), with an option to buy next summer for €5 million (£4.28m). The window shuts at 11pm, and clubs can file a deal sheet to gain an extra two hours.
Leeds have already added five players this summer. Harry Wilson arrived on a free, with goalkeepers Michael Zetterer and James Trafford, plus centre-backs Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muheremovic. Daniel Farke has spoken about adding depth at left-back and centre-back after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.
Supporters have pushed for another striker, but it remains possible Leeds go until at least January with only two senior options, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha. TalkSPORT reported that Burnley forward Zian Flemming has told his club he wants to leave to play in the Premier League or at a top European side.
On the left wing, Leeds look set to miss out on Mykhailo Mudryk, with the Chelsea winger likely to join Tottenham Hotspur and the decision resting with Chelsea. Wilfried Gnonto has flown to Fiorentina for a medical, though any loan will proceed only if Leeds secure a replacement, otherwise he is expected to return.
