Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign OGC Nice defender Melvin Bard (25) on a season-long loan, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Bard has started both of Nice’s first two Ligue 1 games, however, he is now set to play the remainder of the season at Elland Road. Leeds United had been in competition with West Ham United for the signature of the former France youth international. It is the former who have won the race, it would seem.
Bard will join on a paid loan deal worth €1m. Leeds United will also have the option to make the left-back’s move to Yorkshire permanent for a fee of €5m at the end of the campaign. Bard, under contract with Le Gym until the summer of 2028, has played 193 times for the club since making the move from formative club Olympique Lyonnais. Nice have already lined up a replacement in the form of Niels Nkounkou.
