Leeds United agree loan for Melvin Bard with fees detailed | OneFootball

According to Leeds Live, Leeds United have agreed a loan for OGC Nice left-back Melvin Bard, who is set to become their sixth signing of the window.

Leeds will pay an initial €one million, £856k, with a further €five point five million, £four point seven million, due next summer if the move becomes permanent. He arrives as cover for first-choice left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson.

A left-footed deputy had been needed since January, with James Justin impressing but being right-footed and also required at centre-back. Bard has been tracked for at least six months and is set for a medical this afternoon.

The Frenchman made 193 appearances for Nice after joining from Lyon in 2021, where he featured 13 times at senior level. He can operate as a traditional left-back or as a wing-back.

Daniel Farke had underlined the need for more defensive depth after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford. It remains to be seen whether Leeds do further business today.

Any slim hope of signing Mykhailo Mudryk appears to have faded, with Tottenham Hotspur appearing to have swooped late on. Leeds are firm that Wilfried Gnonto will not be allowed to leave for Fiorentina without a replacement.

Gnonto flew to Italy for a medical yesterday and was pictured in club gear while speaking to photographers. He could fly back to Leeds if a successor is not found before 11pm.

Leeds have spent around £85 million this window, with the net outlay sitting at about £50 million.
