Leeds United are ‘making a late play’ for Everton linked winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who was clocked as the quickest player in the Bundesliga.

Bahoya is on the books at Eintracht Frankfurt and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

There has been interest from David Moyes’ Everton side, though the Toffees have not made a move and focused their efforts elsewhere for now.

Hull City agreed a deal in principle with Eintracht Frankfurt for Bahoya, but the player was less than keen on the destination.

Now Leeds have entered the mix for the speedy winger and are seeking to bring him to Elland Road.

Journalist Alex Crook wrote on X: “#LUFC are making a late play for Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya. Not seen as a straightforward deal.”

Whether Leeds can get the agreement done in time, given that the clock is ticking, is unclear, as is whether they might even be facing late competition from elsewhere.

Everton are bringing back Jack Grealish, which David Moyes may well view as enough of an attacking reinforcement if Folarin Balogun also joins before the window closes.

Leeds though are losing winger Willy Gnonto to Serie A side Fiorentina on a loan deal with an option to buy, opening up a spot in Farke’s squad; Gnonto was caught on video arriving in Florence on Monday night.

Largie Ramazani has also left, being sent to Burnley on an initial loan deal which could well become permanent.

Bahoya came through the youth set-up in France at Angers and Eintracht Frankfurt pounced to snap him up in the summer of 2024.

He was not a regular in the Eintracht Frankfurt side last term, but did clock 37 outings, including featuring in the Champions League on eight occasions.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been ready to do business if the offer is right, however Bahoya will also need to be convinced about the destination.
