Leeds United are set to start work at Elland Road once this season ends, regardless of the division, with new tributes to Howard Wilkinson and Marcelo Bielsa planned.

According to Leeds Live, construction could begin at the end of May, creating two areas flanking the East Stand reception, to be called Howard’s Way and Bielsa’s Place.

The 49ers are pursuing a wider redevelopment and are in talks with Leeds City Council. Proposals would raise capacity from 37,645 to 53,000, subject to agreement on a transport plan.

Wilkinson remains the most recent English manager to win the top flight, doing so with Leeds in 1991/92, and was recently inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame.

Bielsa ended a 16-year wait for Premier League football by winning the Championship in 2019/20, then delivered ninth place in the following campaign. He is heading to Wembley soon.

Supporters can buy personalised legacy stones to be laid within Howard’s Way or Bielsa’s Place, with both installations intended to be permanent features at Elland Road. There is hope Leeds start 2026/27 in the Premier League with the new areas in place.
