Leeds United have won their appeal over the scorer of their second goal in Monday night's 4-1 win against Newcastle United, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin now credited.

The Premier League said in a statement that the goal was first given to Calvert-Lewin, then reassigned to Jayden Bogle by the Goal Accreditation Panel after contact on its way in, before Leeds appealed. The Appeals Panel reviewed footage, awarded the goal to Calvert-Lewin and transferred the assist to James Justin.

At Elland Road, an Ao Tanaka strike deflected in off Lewis Miley for an own goal on 32 minutes to open the scoring. Two minutes later, Calvert-Lewin and Bogle attacked Justin's cross for the disputed second.

Calvert-Lewin made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time. Noah Okafor added a fourth on 59 minutes, before Bazoumana Toure netted a 90th-minute consolation for Newcastle.

The result moved Leeds up to third in the Premier League table. Following the successful appeal, Calvert-Lewin has three league goals, joint second in the early standings, with Erling Haaland leading on four.
