Russell Martin remains in talks with Leicester City over the managerial vacancy at the King Power Stadium.

BBC Radio Leicester reports that Martin is among the candidates to have spoken with the club in recent weeks. Over the weekend, it was claimed the 40-year-old was the primary target and in advanced discussions.

Others have been interviewed as the process continues this summer. Gary Rowett remains in post on a short-term deal signed in February, but a new face for the 2026/27 season looks increasingly likely.

Martin has long been on Leicester’s radar, with chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha an admirer of his possession-focused approach. It is seen as comparable to the style Enzo Maresca used two seasons ago.

Rene Hake, formerly Erik ten Hag’s assistant at Manchester United, has also been linked. In the Netherlands, there have been suggestions he is under serious consideration amid an imminent exit from Feyenoord, where he is Robin van Persie’s assistant.

Decisions on the playing squad and other on-field matters are expected to follow once a manager is chosen. That appointment is likely to be the first of several major changes at the club.
