Leicester City ‘line up’ Conor Chaplin as Archie Collins link and Torino ‘hold talks’ for Ben Nelson | OneFootball

Leicester City are pushing ahead with summer business under Russell Martin, with links to free agents Archie Collins and Conor Chaplin, and Torino interest in Ben Nelson amid a reported €6-7 million valuation.

With Martin in post, City plan to reshape the squad and cut wages. Bilal El Khannouss has already joined VfB Stuttgart. Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp and Hamza Choudhury are the current senior options in central midfield.

Peterborough Today reports City are among the clubs showing the most interest in Collins, alongside Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford United and Portsmouth. The defensive midfielder has left Peterborough at the end of his contract after 159 appearances since arriving from Exeter City in 2023. He helped Exeter win promotion in 2022 and lifted back-to-back EFL Trophies with Posh.

Football League World says Conor Chaplin is being lined up. The attacking midfielder won promotion from League One and the Championship with Ipswich, taking the 2023 Golden Boot with 29 goals, then adding 13 the following season. He spent last term on loan at Portsmouth, scored two in 40, and is now a free agent aged 29.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims Torino have begun talks over Nelson, though there is disagreement on the fee. City are said to want €6-7 million for the defender, while no offer has been made. Nelson played 24 Championship matches last season, then slipped out of favour, and previously had loans with Oxford, Rochdale and Doncaster.
