On Monday the club said in a statement that Leire Baños has ruptured the ACL in her right knee, confirmed after tests by IMQ medical staff. She will undergo surgery in the coming days.
The midfielder was injured two minutes into Saturday's 0-0 friendly against Deportivo in Luanco, the incident described as accidental.

Baños joined Athletic in 2024 and has since been a key figure, making 30 appearances in her first season and 25 in the second.
She had begun this pre-season under new head coach Víctor Martín, appointed this summer.
Following surgery she will start rehabilitation. Baños is under contract until 2027.
