Barcelona have been officially crowned champions of the La Liga 2024/25 season, capping off a historic domestic treble that includes the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

Under the leadership of Hansi Flick, the Blaugrana have delivered a season filled with consistency, tactical brilliance, and undeniable hunger for silverware, falling just short of European glory in the Champions League.

The win over Espanyol sealed the title mathematically, and Barcelona now stand tall with 28 La Liga titles to their name. The congratulations poured in from across the footballing world, but one message in particular stood out — that of club legend Leo Messi.

The Argentine simply posted “Congratulations!!” on Instagram, accompanied by Blaugrana-themed emojis.

His short but heartfelt message was a clear nod to the team’s incredible achievement, and a moment that resonated with fans who still cherish his link with the club.

Minimal celebration

Lionel Messi still carries Barcelona in his heart.

Despite the joyous occasion, the on-pitch celebrations at Espanyol’s stadium were brief and subdued. Espanyol, still sore from past celebrations on their turf, took steps to limit the spectacle, even going as far as turning on the sprinklers shortly after the final whistle.

But unlike the pitch invasion scenes of two years ago, this time, security measures were tight, and the Barcelona squad remained composed.

Even so, the disruption did not dampen spirits. Flick, always calm and calculated, took immediate control of the situation and ordered his players off the pitch.

His decision was not about avoiding confrontation but rather about shifting the focus to what truly matters: celebrating this monumental achievement with their families and, most importantly, with the fans back in Barcelona.

The German manager insisted that the real celebration should take place in the locker room, and later in the heart of the city, where thousands of Culers were already preparing to fill the streets in tribute to one of the club’s most hard-earned domestic campaigns in recent memory.
