Liverpool Confirm the Arrival of Ronald Araujo On Loan

Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of defender Ronald Araujo on a season-long loan deal from FC Barcelona.

The 27-year-old joins as an experienced option both at centre-back, but also as an option at right-back.

Araujo boasts 213 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further seven. He has aslo represented Uruguay on 27 occasions, scoring one goal.

This is huge news for Liverpool, who are still anticipating the returns of Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni from long-term injuries.

The loan deal is thought to include a buy option worth £47m, but it is not a mandatory clause.

Speaking on his arrival on Merseyside, Araujo said: “I’m excited to be here at this massive club with lots of history. I’m excited to meet my teammates, excited to get playing, and I’m very motivated and really up for getting going.”

Araujo becomes Liverpool’s third arrival of the summer, following Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz. More signings are expected as we head into the final weeks of the transfer window…
