Luis García Plaza explains hydration-break flashpoint and admits rival coach listening ploy | OneFootball

Luis García Plaza has addressed the hydration-break flashpoint from Sevilla’s meeting with Valencia at the Sánchez Pizjuán, where a TV boom entered his huddle. The match resulted in the dismissal of Carlos Corberán.

"Valencia said they would not come in, they came over to our huddle and they caught me with the tactics board," he said on El Larguero.

"I have someone listening to what the other coach says during the hydration breaks to relay it to me by mobile. Every coach does it, and any coach who says otherwise is lying."

"I just do not want the other team to find out what I am going to say, that is all." He repeated the line on the pitch while trying to shoo the TV boom.

Hydration breaks have become a regular feature, sometimes even without extreme heat. Coaches dislike microphones entering team huddles, some lower their voices while others attempt to block the camera.
