Flamengo's last remaining injury absentee, Luiz Araújo, has entered the transition phase. He has a good chance of being available to Leonardo Jardim for the Libertadores last 16 first leg against Cruzeiro on 12 August.
He has not played since a friendly with Olimpia of Paraguay in Brasília on 17 July, when a heavy challenge caused a left-knee injury that did not require surgery. He is undertaking on-field conditioning and physiotherapy, according to GE.
He is expected to rejoin group training later this week, on Friday 7 or Saturday 8. He is ruled out of the Vitória match on Sunday 9, the 22nd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, which kicks off at 19:30 Brasília time at Maracanã.
Léo Pereira, who went off at half-time in Internacional v Flamengo, is recovered and not a concern for Sunday. Gonzalo Plata is also back after being out since the Chapecoense game. Lucas Paquetá will be included in the squad to face Vitória.
In the most recent outing, against Internacional, Jorge Carrascal operated on the right. Flamengo first face Vitória, then turn to Cruzeiro next week.
