Lyon ‘in talks’ with AC Milan over Youssouf Fofana loan with option to buy | OneFootball

Lyon are assessing a loan with an option to buy for AC Milan midfielder and France international Youssouf Fofana, 27, as the window nears its end.

While OL’s immediate focus is on potential exits, with Malick Fofana possibly moving in the coming hours, attention has also turned to Youssouf Fofana, who is contracted to Milan until 2028. Sky Sport reports that talks have begun between Milan, Lyon and the former Monaco player with a view to that structure.

Fofana has not been used by Milan head coach Ruben Amorim since the start of the season and is seeking a way out. He was a World Cup finalist with France in 2022 and a mainstay for the Rossoneri over the past two campaigns.

It would be a significant coup for Lyon, yet the Michele Kang-led club are prioritising trimming the squad. At least one midfielder would likely need to depart to clear a path, possibly Tanner Tessmann.

Paulo Fonseca, who worked with Fofana while coaching Milan in the first part of 2024-2025 and wanted an athletic number 6, would likely welcome his arrival. However, no agreement has been reached at this stage, L’Équipe says.
