Manchester United’s hunt for a left-back is yet to bear fruit with less than a week left for the summer transfer window to close.

Given Luke Shaw’s injury record, it would have been foolish for INEOS to place all their trust in the Englishman.

Rather surprisingly, Harry Amass could also be leaving, making it even more obvious that a left-back needs to be signed.

Lewis Hall was seen as the dream target, but Newcastle are in no mood to relent. That has meant the Red Devils have been forced to look beyond the Premier League.

The likes of Alejandro Balde, Jorge Salinas, David Raum and Joaquin Seys are among the names being considered, but it is well known that United’s co-owners prefer Premier League-proven options.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is off the table, while a move for Antonee Robinson is unlikely.

Interestingly, according to i Paper, the 20-time English league champions have made tentative enquiries about Adrien Truffert.

Bournemouth, who have stood firm amid Chelsea’s onslaught for Alex Scott, have no inclination of losing anymore players this summer.

“Sources told The i Paper the “not-for-sale” stance on Bournemouth’s star players has been clearly communicated to the players, agents and rival clubs.”

Adrien Truffert would have likely cost a bomb, which rules out a move. Whether INEOS try one last time for Hall or if they have a backup plan in place will be interesting to see.

It would be a folly to not hand head coach Michael Carrick a new left-back, something which could happen as per multiple sources due to the club’s resources being stretched thin.
