Barcelona left back Alejandro Balde is unhappy with how his situation has developed just days before the transfer window closes, according to SPORT.

The La Liga champions have made it clear they’re willing to listen to offers for the Spaniard, and those close to him are reportedly surprised by the sudden change.

The 22-year-old reportedly turned down offers during the summer because his priority was to remain at Barcelona and continue playing an important role under manager Hansi Flick.

However, things started to go sour after Flick expressed concerns about Balde’s commitment.

The Barcelona manager had reportedly questioned the defender’s focus privately before the issue became more visible ahead of the league opener against Elche.

Balde was disappointed by a decision made during the final training session before that match.

Academy talent Xavi Espart was reportedly used at left-back, leaving Balde with the impression that his position in Flick’s plans was no longer secure.

The issue was not simply that another player was being considered for his position. Balde is said to have been frustrated that his concerns were not raised earlier.

The situation became more serious when Balde was left out of the squad for the La Liga opener, when Barcelona ripped Elche apart in a 5-0 thrashing.

After the game, Flick confirmed that he had spoken to the player that morning and told him that he did not believe Balde was fully focused.

The manager said Balde needed to clear his head before they could continue their discussions, placing the relationship between the pair under further scrutiny.

Balde was an important part of Barcelona’s plans, but it remains to be seen if he can repair his relationship with Flick.

There was at least one positive development on Monday, with Balde returning to normal training alongside the rest of the squad.

His return could help reduce the tension, although it hasn’t removed doubts about what happens next.

Manchester United are now watching the situation closely. They’ve reportedly made contact to understand Balde’s terms and are considering a move for the Spanish international.

United are reportedly ready to test Barcelona’s resolve with an opening bid of around €40 million.
