Maracanã to revamp Tribuna de Honra with R$ 2.5 million works before 2027 Women’s World Cup | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Maracanã will undergo works before the 2027 Women’s World Cup, including a R$ 2.5 million upgrade to the Tribuna de Honra.

Under talks between the Rio state government and the Fla-Flu consortium, the consortium would fund the job and receive two years of commercial use of camarote 330.

An addendum to the concession has been drafted to set the terms. The works aim to meet modern standards of accessibility, safety, comfort, functionality and hospitality for hosting authorities and guests.

FIFA is also assessing what adjustments are needed at the stadium. The state plans to hire a company to map needs and costs, with some low-impact and temporary changes expected for the tournament.

The Maracanã is set to host nine matches, including the opener and the final. FIFA wants 28 days of control, while the consortium argues for roughly half, and talks continue. Brazilian football will pause from 24 June to 25 July 2027 to accommodate the tournament.

Three bids were reviewed, with Solutions World selected to deliver in 45 days at R$ 2.4 million. NovaRio was cheaper but needed 90 business days, while Tottus Engenharia priced almost R$ 4 million and 105 business days.

Separately, the Maracanã 360 project will add a fifth-floor food hub with restaurants overlooking the pitch, with initial investment above R$ 20 million and completion due by end-2026. A Football Museum of about R$ 40 million is planned for 2027.
