Marcelo Paz said on Thursday that Corinthians have opened talks over a new deal for André Carrillo, whose contract runs to the end of the season and who remains in the club’s plans for 2027.

According to Meu Timao, Carrillo is highly rated by the board, particularly president Osmar Stabile. Paz also revealed that Zakaria Labyad’s renewal is being processed after a left ACL injury, and the Moroccan is only expected to return in 2027, with the club obliged to extend his deal until full recovery.

He said initial talks had been held with Carrillo’s representatives, while other cases remain under review, with decisions possible towards the end of the year.

In a July poll, 55.6% of respondents backed Carrillo staying at Parque São Jorge, with 44.4% preferring he moved on.

The 35-year-old joined in mid-2024 and has 110 appearances, three goals and six assists. He has lifted the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil, plus the 2026 Supercopa Rei.

Following Wednesday’s Libertadores elimination, Corinthians now have only the Campeonato Brasileiro to play. They host Fluminense on Sunday at 16:00 at the Neo Química Arena.
