Marcos Llorente has retired from international football at 31, announcing his decision on Thursday, weeks after Spain's 2026 World Cup triumph.
He appeared in three matches at the finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico, where Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final. The player said in a post that his mind had been made up before the tournament, irrespective of selection or the result.

Llorente made his Spain debut in 2020 and won 27 caps.
He described representing his country as a privilege and being part of that history, and he thanked team-mates and staff.
The Atlético de Madrid midfielder departs the national team on the highest of notes.
