FC Red Bull Salzburg has appointed Marcus Mann as Managing Director of Sport. Effective immediately, he will assume overall responsibility for the club’s sporting strategy and direction.
Born in Leonberg, Germany, Mann’s previous roles include Sporting Director at 1. FC Saarbrücken (2016–2020), Head of Academy at TSG Hoffenheim (2020–2021) and, most recently, Managing Director of Sport at Hannover 96 in Germany’s second division (from 2021). These positions have equipped him with broad experience in talent development and strategic squad planning, making him an excellent addition to the club’s leadership. Mann has signed with FC Red Bull Salzburg through 30 June 2030.

In addition to the new appointment, CEO Stephan Reiter – who has played a pivotal role at the club since January 2017 – has agreed to a long-term, open-ended contract extension. This ensures that the club’s economic and strategic leadership remains stable and experienced.
With Stephan Reiter’s extension and the appointment of Marcus Mann, we’re ensuring that FC Red Bull Salzburg remains a leading address both on and off the pitch. Both decisions reaffirm our path and our commitment to long-term success.
Harald Lürzer, Chairman of the Board
Together with our board and supported by our network, we took the necessary time to find the ideal candidate for this crucial role. We are confident we’ve done so with Marcus Mann. His experience and his focus on sustainable development align perfectly with our goals. The many learnings from the past nine years—and the trust of the board, my team, and our partners—reinforced my decision to continue being part of our Salzburg journey.
Stephan Reiter, CEO
I’m delighted to be taking on this new role at FC Red Bull Salzburg. When you’ve spent four and a half years at the same club, saying goodbye isn’t easy. But after my very first conversation with the club’s leadership, I had a very positive feeling. This club stands for a clear philosophy, a strong record in developing young talent, and ambitious goals. Together with everyone here, I want to help drive this path forward with consistency and shape our sporting development in a sustainable way. Our discussions showed me that this is an environment where you can make a lasting, long‑term impact—and that’s something I’m really excited about.
Marcus Mann, Managing Director of Sport
The official presentation of Marcus Mann will take place at a press conference with CEO Stephan Reiter on Tuesday, 6 January 2026 at 12:30.
