Olympiacos have completed the signing of Gustavo Puerta on loan until the end of the season, closing one of Benfica’s most talked-about pursuits.
According to Glorioso 1904, Nottingham Forest bought the Colombian from Racing Santander by paying his 16 million euro release clause, then sent him straight to Greece in a move led by Evangelos Marinakis, owner of both clubs.
Puerta had wanted to join Benfica to bolster their midfield, but a rapid operation has set his immediate future in Greece.
The Colombian is off Benfica’s list for domestic and European competitions this season.
With Richard Ríos departing for Al-Ittihad, Benfica reacted by turning abroad and moving decisively to secure Claudio Echeverri.
