Matthieu Louis-Jean has been appointed OL sporting director from July, formalising a remit he had largely been fulfilling. According to Le Progres, the move follows three years at the club as head of recruitment then technical director.

New owner Michele Kang announced it at a Friday press conference, three days after officially confirming her takeover. Chief executive Michael Gerlinger praised Louis-Jean and said there is an agreement for him to stay in the role from July, adding they hope he stays for a long time.

The promotion was symbolically marked with a shirt bearing 'Directeur Sportif 2026'. Gerlinger noted the club had operated within a multi-club model alongside Botafogo and Molenbeek, and that with each team now set to run its own course, appointing a dedicated sporting director at OL made sense.

Louis-Jean said he was very happy and thanked Kang and Gerlinger, calling the appointment an honour and a source of pride. He acknowledged last season was complicated and thanked Kang for enabling a competitive team.

He added that the club must remain ambitious despite working with fewer resources, and that they will continue in that vein. His aim is to provide Paulo with the most competitive squad possible and to try to do better.
