LaLiga has not paused Segunda during the FIFA window, and CD Castellón will be without three players on international duty, namely Maty Orozco, Amir Saipi and Rodrigo Rego. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the absences begin next week.

The trio are set to miss two league matches, away to Leganés on Monday 28 September and at home to Ceuta at SkyFi Castalia on Sunday four October.

Orozco’s call is his first with Colombia’s senior side. The 18-year-old midfielder, on loan from Brighton until June 2027 and previously capped at youth level, is named in Colombia’s first post‑2026 World Cup list, a 25-man squad for friendlies against Mexico, Paraguay and Peru in the United States from 26 to six October.

Saipi has been summoned by Kosovo. A senior international since 2024, he has yet to debut competitively for Castellón, with Romain Matthys starting in goal, so his absence carries a different sporting weight to Orozco’s. Kosovo face Ireland and Austria in the Nations League, then play later friendlies against Israel.

Rego returns to Portugal Under-21 for the final Euro 2027 qualifiers, included in a 23-player list selected by Luís Freire. Portugal play Bulgaria on 25 September, Gibraltar on 30, and the Czech Republic on six October.

Head coach Pablo Hernández expressed pride in the selections as recognition of the squad’s level, while accepting the cost of losing players during league play. He added that other team-mates will step in and are prepared.
