River Plate have confirmed the signing of Uruguay midfielder Mauro Arambarri, who signed at the Monumental on Wednesday and was presented as their second addition of the window. The club said in a statement that he has agreed a contract until 31 December 2028 and will join first-team training on Thursday under Eduardo Coudet.

After passing his medical, Arambarri completed the move as River secured 100% of his rights, buying 50% from his previous club, 30% from Boston River and the remaining 20% from the player. The total outlay is around six million euros.

He did not take part in the first day of pre-season on Wednesday morning, and is scheduled to begin work on Thursday 18 June.

From there he is set to be included in the group travelling on Friday to Alicante, Spain, to continue preparations for the second half of the year.

Arambarri will be the only reinforcement available to the head coach at the start of the camp. Fellow signing Nicolás Otamendi will report only once his World Cup involvement has finished.
