Rumors have recently been swirling in the Egyptian press, suggesting that Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, 31, could join Al Ahly in January if his contract with Pyramids FC is not renewed.
Moatasem Salem, head coach of Pyramids FC, has dismissed these reports, insisting that the player will not be leaving the club any time soon.In a televised interview, he stated: "Fiston Mayele is a very important player and the club needs him. The idea of his departure has never been considered."He added: "Every player thinks about his future, and every club looks after its players. We have officials who examine everything meticulously, far from the media frenzy. Last season, similar rumors surrounded Moroccan Mohamed Chibi, who ultimately renewed his contract quietly."Salem concluded: "The matter of renewal depends on the contracts director and the sporting director. Mayele has started every match and was the top scorer in the Champions League last season. His departure has never been on the agenda."Recall that Pyramids FC, reigning champions of the latest African Champions League, defeated Auckland City (New Zealand), Oceania champions, 3-0 last Sunday in the opening round of the Intercontinental Cup, qualifying to face Al Ahly of Saudi Arabia, the Asian champions.
