Pape Cabral (19) has rejected the chance to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, as per a report from Sacha Tavolieri.

Cabral extended his contract at formative club AS Monaco over the summer and he was touted as a potential breakthrough star this season. However, he has yet to come on for Filipe Luís’ side and then, ahead of Friday night’s game against Paris Saint-Germain, he was heavily linked with a move to the Gulf. Having failed to sell sufficiently so far, the Principality club are still looking to raise funds. Whilst Cabral is not on large wages, a deal worth potentially over €10m was being discussed with Al-Ahli.

Monaco were open to a deal that had looked to be progressing. However, a change of sporting directors put a spanner in the works. Not only did it call into question the deal with Les Monégasques, but Cabral too has been put off making the move. The academy product is therefore set to stay at Monaco, a decision accepted by the Principality club.
