Monaco’s Paris Brunner receives two-game ban for celebration against Strasbourg | OneFootball

Paris Brunner (20) has received a two-game ban for his throat-slicing celebration against RC Strasbourg Alsace, the LFP confirmed on Wednesday.

Brunner has enjoyed an excellent start to the season, scoring six goals in his first seven games, including four in Ligue 1. One of those goals came in a 1-1 draw away to Strasbourg. Celebrating that goal, he went in front of the Strasbourg Kop, and on his way back to the centre circle, he mimicked a throat-slicing action. The German was quick to apologise, but also cited insults from the crowd as a mitigating factor. After he netted in a 2-1 win over RC Lens last Friday, he then seemingly apologised again in another celebration.

Brunner risked anything up to a four-game suspension. Whilst he has received that maximum four-game ban, two of those games are suspended. The forward, called up to Germany’s U21 squad for the first time, will miss games against Toulouse FC and FC Lorient.
