AS Monaco manager Sébastien Pocognoli has confirmed that Paul Pogba (32) will not feature against RC Lens this weekend. La Pioche’s return is planned for after the international break.

Pogba was close to a return against Paris FC last weekend, but he suffered a grade two ankle sprain on Thursday, two days before the game. Despite the setback, it was reported that there was perhaps a chance that the Frenchman would feature on Saturday, against Lens. But Pocognoli has now confirmed that Pogba will play no part in the game.

Fati set for return following illness

“Paul won’t be in the squad for this match,” said Pocognoli in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. What is planned is a return against Rennes (after the international break, on 22nd November). We’ll see how he gets on in training.”

Pocognoli also provided an update on Monaco’s other injured players. “Krépin Diatta (eye) is still injured, so he is out. Ansu Fati tested himself yesterday, and he will do the same again today. The signs are pretty positive. Beyond that, there is Eric Dier, who has started training again; we have Denis Zakaria, who is back training, and it is the same for Vanderson. Little by little, there are returnees. We’ll see how they get on in training.”
