Montpellier are set to sign Guinean international Toulouse left-back Issiaga Sylla (29), according to a report from France Bleu. Sylla’s contract with Le Téfécé was due to expire next June, but Toulouse have decided to terminate his contract now. La Paillade were in the market for a left-sided defender following the sale of Nicolas Cozza (24) to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. The Hérault outfit were looking to sign Moroccan international left-back Yahia Attiyat-Allah (27) but a last-minute demand from Wydad Casablanca’s president Saïd Naciri is said to have scuppered the deal at the last minute. Montpellier nevertheless look set to sign an experienced defender, with 220 Ligue 1 games under his belt, on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old Guinean international is expected to put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal with the Romain Pitau-led side. Sylla played 17 Ligue 1 games this season with Toulouse, but did not make the squad called up by head coach Philippe Montanier for Toulouse’s latest Ligue 1 game, an away win at Strasbourg.
