More than 80kg of marijuana found on Sao Paulo FC-branded bus in Bolivia | OneFootball

Bolivian police found more than 80 kg of marijuana on a Sao Paulo FC-branded coach during the club’s Copa Sudamericana trip, and three people were arrested.

The transport company Cosmos said the team did not use that vehicle, and that another coach had been assigned. It added that responsibility lay with the Bolivian drivers.

The bus, initially earmarked to carry the squad during their stay in Santa Cruz, was searched overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. Officers stopped it at Villa Tunari in the Cochabamba department in central Bolivia, an area known for coca production.

Images released by the authorities showed the vehicle in club colours and bearing its logos. During the search, police uncovered 65 rectangular packages containing a greenish substance, which later tests confirmed as marijuana.

The haul had been concealed in shopping bags. Sao Paulo were in the country to face Bolivar in the round of 16 first leg of the Copa Sudamericana, the South American equivalent of the Europa League.
