Nathan Shi backs Ghislain Konan to settle quickly after Cesar Peixoto reunion | OneFootball

Wolves chairman Nathan Shi hopes Ghislain Konan’s reunion with head coach Cesar Peixoto will help the left-back settle quickly in English football.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Ivory Coast international has rejoined his former boss after working with Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season, and was earmarked earlier in the window as an option if David Moller Wolfe moved on.

Wolfe has joined Hamburg on a season-long loan to seek regular minutes, and Konan has signed a one-year deal to compete with Hugo Bueno at left-back.

Shi noted that Konan already understands Peixoto’s demands and playing style from Portugal, which he believes should aid a swift adaptation. He added the club will support the defender as he adjusts.

Konan made 31 appearances under Peixoto at Gil Vicente last season as the team secured European qualification. He has been training alone since leaving the club after featuring for Ivory Coast at this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Wolves technical director Matt Jackson has also backed the signing, highlighting Konan’s professionalism, physicality, top-level experience and desire to play. He said the defender wants the club back at the highest level and is pleased to link up with Peixoto again.

Wolfe, 24, made 26 appearances last season, starting the Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers and the EFL Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday.
