Nelson Deossa’s situation at Real Betis has reached a delicate point, with Leeds United emerging as the strongest English option under his criteria.

El Desmarque and Info Real Betis report that the 26-year-old would only depart for an irresistible offer from England, despite telling the dressing room he remains committed to Manuel Pellegrini’s project.

Betis had planned to sell him to meet La Liga financial rules, setting a €12m, about £10.2m, valuation. With a contract to 2030, sporting director Manu Fajardo holds leverage, yet a bid just above £10.2m could quickly change the picture.

A strong pre-season, including a 30-yard strike against Arsenal, has lifted his standing. Used higher up due to attacking absences, he impressed, and is now expected to revert to central midfield.

Deossa wants to operate at the highest level. He has rejected Vasco da Gama, River Plate and Club America as backward steps, and will not drop into England’s second tier, which removes Wolves and West Ham after relegation. That leaves Ipswich Town and Leeds.

Leeds are viewed as the stronger proposition, with an established Premier League footing into a second consecutive season and Elland Road’s pull. Backed by 49ers Enterprises, Leeds have already scouted him and hold the profile and division status to break the stalemate for Daniel Farke’s midfield before the 2nd September deadline.
