Alexander Nübel left FC Bayern in the summer and joined Besiktas. After many years on loan, this was a permanent transfer. Nübel wanted some clarity at last, FC Bayern wanted to collect a transfer fee, and Besiktas worked hard to sign the goalkeeper.
So far, the top Turkish club has not regretted this transfer. Nübel made a very good impression even during the short preseason, and he has continued to live up to that impression.
In general, Nübel appears full of confidence and has already gelled with his new teammates early on. He’s already calling the shots on defense and has made many great saves.
Nübel has played six competitive matches for Besiktas so far, keeping a clean sheet in all six. That means he hasn’t conceded a single goal since joining his new club. With this feat, Nübel has tied Alexander Manninger’s previous record.

Thanks in part to his strong performances, Nübel has already achieved cult status among Besiktas fans. During the European Cup qualifier against Zalgiris, the fans celebrated him with chants, which he clearly enjoyed.
Nübel has set his sights high and aims to deliver strong performances as the starting goalkeeper for Besiktas. If he manages to continue performing at this level there, it’s entirely realistic that he’ll remain a candidate for the German national team.
Despite his outstanding form, the club in Munich is glad that the Nübel chapter came to an end this summer. He wouldn’t have had a future with the record champions. Manuel Neuer still has one year left on his contract, and for the time after that, Munich is building up Jonas Urbig. And another loan wasn’t part of Nübel’s plan—nor was it part of FCB’s.
