The early signs under new head coach Claude Puel have hinted at promise for OGC Nice. A 1-1 draw against RC Strasbourg Alsace ended a run of six defeats in Ligue 1, while a 1-1 draw with FC Nantes in the Coupe de France was settled in Nice’s favour on penalties.
Puel has been handed a lengthy list of injuries and absentees, although goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf and centre-back Antoine Mendy should soon be back with the Africa Cup of Nations ending this weekend. In their absence, Maxime Dupé will once again be between the sticks, while Brad-Hamilton Mantsounga could be given his Ligue 1 debut after he earned his professional debut against Nantes.
Eintracht Frankfurt loanee Elye Wahi should once again lead the line for Nice. He had an impressive debut scoring off the bench against Strasbourg, but was denied a second goal in as many games in the Coupe de France.
