Noah Okafor has underlined the importance of confidence at Leeds United, saying belief from Daniel Farke and supporters can help him play with freedom. The £18m forward has two goals amid scrutiny of Leeds’ attacking options.

“Football is all about confidence,” Okafor said. “You have to go out as if you’re playing in the street with friends.” He was speaking to Sky Sports.

“Otherwise if you put pressure on yourself, it doesn’t end good. If you have a team, fans and a coach who believes in you, you can play with a smile. I’m a player like this,”

He lost the ball in his own half at Molineux and Wolves opened the scoring, but Leeds went on to win and he scored his first goal.

Leeds eventually made 10 signings, spending more than £100m, including Anton Stach at £19.9m and Lucas Perri at £15.6m. Some fans still felt more was needed in attack, though Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes the current options are enough. Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto have struggled to break into Farke’s plans.

Okafor is set to start against Brentford on Sunday, with Lukas Nmecha missing.
