Willy Gnonto reflected on his super-sub impact after setting up another goal from the bench in Leeds United’s draw with Brentford. He admitted the role has been testing while the team continues to perform.
“It’s not easy. Obviously, the team is playing well. I think we have lots of good players, and I can say the competition is quite high, but at the same time, you know, I have to try and use all my chances.” He was speaking to LUTV.
“I think I did it today. I did against Liverpool, and I just have to keep going like this.” Jamie Redknapp had praised him after he came on against Liverpool and won a penalty.
He also praised Dominic Calvert-Lewin. “I think it’s easier when you play with a striker like Dom. You just know that you have to put it in that area, and he’s going to attack it. I thought it was quite a good ball, but he did a lot of the job, and I’m happy for him.”
Former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford said Gnonto’s happiness with his assists sits alongside frustration at not starting, which shows he cares. He added that such hunger can fuel lively cameos for Daniel Farke.
