Shelbourne FC are delighted to announce that James Norris has completed a permanent move to the club following a successful loan spell from Liverpool FC.
The versatile left-back joined the Reds on loan last season and quickly became an important member of the squad.
Norris made 45 appearances for the Reds across 2025 and was an ever present in Joey O’Brien’s side. The defender’s contribution was recognised as he was named 1895 Young Player of the Year, an award voted for by his teammates. Capable of operating at left-back or in midfield, the 22-year-old impressed with his work rate, technical quality, and consistency during his time at Tolka Park. He contributed 4 assists across the season.
Norris has been with Liverpool since the age of nine and is highly regarded for his development through the academy. He made his senior debut for the club in December 2019 in a League Cup tie against Aston Villa. During the 2023–24 season, he gained valuable senior experience on loan at Tranmere Rovers, making 16 league appearances and featuring in both the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.
A Merseyside native, Norris has trained regularly with Liverpool’s first-team squad and has been named on the bench for Champions League group stage fixtures against Girona and PSV, as well as a League Cup quarter-final against Southampton.
At international level, Norris has represented England across multiple youth age groups, earning caps from U16 through to U19 level.
James Norris said: “Absolutely delighted to make the move permanent. I loved my time here on loan and it feels like the right place for me to continue my development. I cannot wait to get going again, work under the manager and his staff, and play in front of the supporters at Tolka Park again.”
