Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Chelsea for Liam Delap, with the striker set to join on a permanent deal for a club record fee.

According to Nottingham Post, Forest are poised to pay around £45 million for the 23-year-old, a sum that would eclipse the £37.5m spent on Omari Hutchinson a year ago. Delap could undergo a medical within the next 24 hours.

Bolstering the attack has been a summer priority for Oliver Glasner. Forest have already added midfielder Xaver Schlager, defender Ousmane Diomande and back-up goalkeeper Steven Benda, and Glasner has targeted a further two signings before the window closes on the first of September.

A right wing-back is on the list for the final days. A midfielder had also been considered, but Glasner said last week that role is no longer a priority after James McAtee showed he can play there, though links persist.

Outgoings are possible before the deadline, with winger Dilane Bakwa set to join Lille on loan. Forest face Leeds United this evening in the Carabao Cup second round, after a 1-0 league defeat to the same opponents on Saturday in Glasner’s first competitive game.
