Nottingham Forest are pushing to add Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, 20, as Oliver Glasner strengthens his squad.
According to Nottingham Post, Forest are targeting the Netherlands Under-21 international after two bids were rejected, an initial €18 million (£15m) offer then €20m (£17m), and have now submitted a third proposal.
Figures cited for the latest offer vary, from €21m (£18m) to €23m (£19.5m) or even €25m (£21m). That upper figure is close to Feyenoord's valuation and talks are ongoing.
Personal terms do not appear to be an obstacle, with a five-year contract reportedly in place and Read said to have given the green light to a move to the City Ground.
The full-back has previously attracted interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich and already has Champions League and Europa League minutes behind him.
Forest have made one signing so far this summer, midfielder Xaver Schlager, and while a spree is not expected, a few key additions are on the cards.
