After leading Mauritania and Comoros, the 53-year-old coach takes charge of the Stallions.

Official: Amir Abdou is the new head coach of Burkina Faso
The Burkinabè Football Federation has ended the suspense. Amir Abdou was appointed as the head coach of the Stallions on February 28.
"Following a call for applications and a thorough review of different CVs, the Comorian coach Amir Abdou was officially chosen to lead the Burkina Faso national team," announced the Burkinabè Football Federation.
He succeeds Brama Traoré, who was dismissed after the team’s early exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The French-Comorian coach led Comoros to their historic first-ever appearance in the last 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, then moved on to coach Mauritania, where he masterminded a historic victory over Algeria in 2023. He also lifted the Mauritanian league title twice with FC Nouadhibou. At 53, Amir Abdou leaves Hassania Agadir in the Moroccan Botola Pro to take on a major new challenge at the helm of an ambitious squad.
The new coach will lead the Stallions in his first official match in March 2026. The Burkinabè Football Federation has yet to announce their opponents for the upcoming international break.
