Official: Como goalkeeper Butez called up to France squad for the first time | OneFootball

Como goalkeeper Jean Butez has been called up to the France national team squad for the first time in his career as a late replacement for RC Lens’s Robin Risser, who has dropped out due to a physical issue.

Zinedine Zidane announced his first squad as head coach of the France national team on Friday, including several Serie A stars including the likes of Mike Maignan, Manu Kone and Adrien Rabiot, and giving first call-ups to Inter’s Andy Diouf and Como’s Lucas Da Cunha.

They will now be joined by Como’s Butez, who has been called up as a replacement for Lens goalkeeper Risser.

The 31-year-old played all 38 of Como’s Serie A matches last season as Cesc Fabregas’s side earned Champions League qualification for the first time in the club’s history. He has gone on to play in four out of five league matches this season, plus Como’s first ever Champions League game, which ended in a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig earlier this month.

France will be in action against Turkiye on September 25, against Belgium on September 28, against Italy on October 2 and against Belgium again on October 5.
