Eintracht Frankfurt have announced that they have completed the signing of Algerian attacking midfielder Farès Chaïbi from Toulouse to replace the departed Jesper Lindstrøm.
Chaïbi joins Frankfurt for €10m and signs a contract at the club until 2028. The club completed the transfer quickly as they had to source a replacement for Jesper Lindstrøm who departed for Napoli yesterday. Due to the timing of the deal, there is a chance that Chaïbi will play a role in Frankfurt’s Conference League qualifier against Levski Sofia on Thursday.
On the signing of Chaïbi, Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung said: “With Farès Chaibi, we are strengthened by a player who is young and capable of development and yet already has a lot of national and international experience. It can be used variably on several offensive positions and brings attributes that will enrich our game. In the conversations with Farès, we noticed how much he is burning for the new task and Eintracht Frankfurt. We are happy to see him in our colours from now on.”
The 20-year-old has played twice for Toulouse in their opening Ligue 1 games providing an assist in their 2-1 win against Nantes in the first game of the season. Last season was Chaïbi’s break-out year in France as he played a key role in Toulouse’s run to winning the Coup de France.
Frankfurt are still expected to experience a busy final few days of the transfer window as they look to find a solution to the future of Randal Kolo Muani. The 24-year-old has expressed his desire to leave the club and join PSG but no agreement with the French club has yet to be reached.
