Fiorentina confirm the appointment of Fabio Grosso as their new head coach; the ex-Italy international has signed a contract until June 2028.
Former Italian defender Grosso is the new Fiorentina head coach, the Tuscans confirmed in a statement on Monday.
“ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce that Fabio Grosso has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the First Team,” Fiorentina said.
“Born in Rome on November 28, 1977, Grosso began his coaching career in 2013 within the Juventus Youth Sector.
He made his managerial debut with a senior first team in 2017, taking charge of Bari in Serie B. Throughout his career, the new Viola coach has also coached Olympique Lyonnais, Frosinone, and Sassuolo, among others. He has secured two promotions from Serie B to Serie A and, during his most recent season leading the Neroverdi, achieved an 11th-place finish as a newly promoted side.
“Everyone at Fiorentina is delighted to enthusiastically welcome a World Champion and a coach who brings competence, innovative ideas, and enthusiasm. Welcome, Mister Fabio Grosso!”
Fiorentina added that Grosso has signed a contract until June 30, 2028.

“I am truly delighted to have the opportunity to take on this exciting challenge. I am joining a prestigious Club, backed by passionate supporters and located in a city that lives and breathes football.
“I never like to make promises, but fully aware of the responsibilities that lie ahead, I can assure everyone from day one of my commitment, professionalism, and dedication to building a team that plays with courage and ambition. I am genuinely excited and cannot wait to get started.”

Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici, who had already worked with Grosso at Juventus, added: “We are very happy to welcome Fabio Grosso to Fiorentina – said President Giuseppe B. Commisso – Fabio is not only a World Champion; he is a coach who has built his path through hard work, ideas, and results, showing the ability to lead teams and face important challenges.
“After a difficult season, we want to open a new chapter with energy, ambition, and responsibility. We believe Fabio has the personality, the method, and the enthusiasm to help us build a stronger, more competitive Fiorentina, always connected to its identity. We welcome him with great confidence. Forza Viola!”
Fiorentina secured survival with just two games to spare in the 2025-26 campaign, replacing Stefano Pioli with Paolo Vanoli in November 2025.
Paratici was appointed as the new Fiorentina sporting director in February 2026.
Grosso secured Serie A promotion with Sassuolo in 2024-25 and led the Neroverdi to an 11th-place finish in Italy’s top flight in 2025-26.
