RC Lens have signed Sunderland left-back Arthur Masuaku (32) on loan for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season, both clubs have announced. The DR Congo international defender is making a return to Les Sang et Or after spending five years in the club’s academy in his youth days. Masuaku played a peripheral role this season under the tutelage of Régis Le Bris. He only featured four times since joining from Besiktas last summer.

Arthur is naturally keen to play more minutes this season following his return from international duty“, said Sunderland Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman. “We have strong depth in this area of the squad and feel it’s the right move for both the player and Club in this moment.

Masuaku is expected to provide cover and competition to Matthieu Udol, who flourishes on Lens’ left flank left season. Lens were also in the market for a left-back after parting ways with Deiver Machado, who joined Nantes last month.
