Official: Mamadou Sarr becomes Real Sociedad’s first signing | OneFootball

Real Sociedad have confirmed Mamadou Sarr will play for them this season after the 20-year-old centre-back passed a midday medical on Thursday at Policlínica Gipuzkoa.

The club said in a statement that they have agreed a loan with Chelsea until the end of the 26-27 season. He is right-footed and comfortable on either side of the back line.

A Senegal international, Sarr has already won the Africa Cup of Nations and featured at the 2026 World Cup.

He becomes the centre-back Real Sociedad had pursued all summer after the late collapse of a move for Nayef Aguerd. Pellegrino Matarazzo can call on the 1.94-metre defender from Friday, when he is due to begin work at Zubieta.

Chelsea signed Sarr from Strasbourg in June 2025 for 20 million euros, tying him to an eight-year contract to 2033. He is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in French football.
