Elma Junttila Nelhage, a 23-year-old Swedish defender, has signed a two-year extension with OL Lyonnes to 2029. Le Progres reports that she is the fourth young player to commit after Wassa Sangaré, Julie Swierot and Maïssa Fathallah.

Her deal had been due to expire in 2027, and Michele Kang’s club have now secured her for the next three seasons.

The Sweden international joined from BC Häcken, a team from her homeland and OL Lyonnes’ future Champions League opponent, around 18 months ago. She has made 14 appearances and scored one goal, including 10 outings last season.

Nelhage has already won the league in 2025 and 2026, plus two national cups with OL Lyonnes. Pre-season showed her growing involvement under head coach Jonatan Giráldez.

The centre-back had not played an official match since 5 April in Strasbourg, a 6-0 win, before starting at Fleury on the Première Ligue opening day, a 7-1 victory. In Giráldez’s three-four-three, her left foot helps balance the back line.
