Olympique de Marseille have challenged a decision by the Monegasque authorities to bar their supporters from Sunday’s match at Stade Louis-II.

The club said in a statement that it deeply regretted the move, is studying all possible appeals to seek a review, and considers the decision unjustified and particularly disproportionate. It argued targeted security arrangements should be used instead of blanket prohibitions, citing the context of previous meetings between the clubs.

For the Ligue 1 fixture on matchday two, kicking off at 20:45 on Sunday, no Marseille supporters will be permitted to travel or enter Louis-II.

This is the club’s first away supporter ban of the season.

To mark their enforced absence, Marseille’s players will wear the "Comme un seul OM" patch on Sunday, a symbol previously used when away travel was prohibited.
