OM to host Athletic Bilbao at Vélodrome in friendly on nine August | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille will return to the Vélodrome on nine August, hosting Athletic Bilbao in a pre-season friendly, kick-off 17:30. The game forms part of their build-up to 2026-2027.

According to L'Équipe, it will be OM's second warm-up fixture, pitting last season's 12th-placed La Liga side against Ligue 1's fifth in 2025-2026.

Marseille's summer schedule opens on Friday 17 July against Yamoussoukro FC in Abidjan, with a 21:00 start, while the squad continue a training camp in Côte d'Ivoire.

The Bilbao date will offer home supporters a first look at new head coach Bruno Génésio. Presented to the media on Wednesday, he will take charge for the first time on Friday against the newly promoted Ivorian club.

After a difficult campaign, expectations are high around Marseille for a fresh cycle, with changes to the head coach role, the sporting director position and the presidency following Stéphane Richard's arrival.
