Sevilla’s summer rebuild is taking shape under Luis García Plaza, with three arrivals confirmed in Patrick Mercado, Juan Iglesias and Arouna Sangante. The Independiente del Valle attacking midfielder’s fitness will still be assessed, and plans for 2026-27 target market opportunities, free agents and loans. A key midfield pursuit could now face pressure from a direct rival.

Sevilla are also tracking emerging South American talent. According to Ekrem Konur, they are monitoring 20-year-old Venezuelan winger David Martínez at Los Angeles FC, while Villarreal and Real Sociedad are also following him.

Martínez has four goals in nine MLS matches this season. LAFC could consider a sale if a suitable bid arrives, and Transfermarkt values him at around four million euros. Any deal would test Sevilla’s finances, though it would be a long-term play for the attack.

Closer to home, Estadio Deportivo reports Alberto Reina as the leading option to reshape the midfield. The 28-year-old Real Oviedo player, a Betis academy graduate with spells at AD Ceuta and CD Mirandés, has enjoyed his debut season in the top flight. Transfermarkt puts his value near two million euros, potentially lower if Oviedo, Sevilla’s next league opponents, drop to LaLiga Hypermotion.

Complications have emerged. Journalist Juan Velázquez claims Osasuna coach Alessio Lisci has asked his club to push for Reina, having worked with him for two successful seasons at Mirandés, which could aid negotiations. The report adds that Oviedo have told the player they intend to renew his contract, further hindering Sevilla’s plans.
